Bigger and Simpler Than You Could Imagine

God’s plan for us is big. Bigger than you can imagine. It touches every part of our lives and reaches every corner of the globe. He wants all of us, every fiber of our beings. But unlike our plans, His plan is simple. You see, people have a propensity to complicate things. I’ll be the first to admit it. We believe that big goals need big plans. We confuse size with effectiveness and features with value. And sometimes, we get so far off in the weeds that we lose sight of the big picture.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
— John 15:5

The good news is that God’s plan couldn’t be simpler. Jesus said that if we stay connected with Him, we will bear much fruit. Simple. That’s it? That's the plan? Yep. God knows that if you stay connected with Him, the Holy Spirit will do his work in us to change us and make us like Christ. Just as yeast works in the dough to convert starches and sugars from flour into alcohol and carbon dioxide gas, causing the bread to rise, the Spirit changes us and fashions us into the image of Jesus.

This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
— John 15:8

If you’re a follower of Jesus, then your heart's desire is to one day hear “well done, good and faithful servant.” Do you know what? God is looking forward to that day too because He wants to be able to say those words to you. Stay connected, and you’ll bear much fruit; it's not only the Father’s plan; it's His desire for you.
